Feature Blennerhassett Bride & Groom:
Ashley & Alexander Scharfetter
Married on June 16, 2018
Meet Ashley & Alex Scharfetter, married on June 16, 2018, who utilized the Blennerhassett Hotel for their ceremony and reception.
Alex and I met at a 4th of July party through mutual friends in Marietta, Ohio. I’d lived in the area pretty much my whole life, but Alex (who is from Chillicothe, Ohio) happened to be working there for a political campaign. On our first date, I told him that he was going to marry me. His response? “Yeah, okay.” We were engaged 9 months later.
You know those girls who plan their wedding their whole life? That was me. Ever since I can remember, I just knew my reception would be at The Blennerhassett Hotel. The history, the elegance, the beauty: it was everything I could’ve wanted and right in my hometown. Growing up in Parkersburg, I remember driving by the hotel and I’d proudly telling my parents, friends, anyone who would listen about my plan. I actually worked at the hotel throughout the college. Every weekend I’d sneak into the ballroom to glimpse at all the decorations, taking mental notes and dreaming about my own day.
Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue:
• My something borrowed was a broach from my mom. It was her something borrowed for wedding! She wore it on her dress, I pinned it on my wedding bouquet.
• I had several blue things, but my favorite was the 3 little blue hearts sown into my wedding dress. The fabric came from shirts of my grandma, grandpa and uncle, who of all passed away.
• My something old was a gift from my grandma. It was a pearl and diamond ring, the first piece of jewelry my grandfather had ever given her.
• My new? Literally the most beautiful pair of shoes you’ll EVER see from Betsey Johnson. The best part? They were FLATS.
Our goal is to make each wedding as special and memorable as possible, and we are thrilled to have made this possible for Ashley & Alex. Here is their feedback:
My friends are still raving about our wedding reception! The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the hotel is always gorgeous. But for me, the bride, having my reception at the hotel was one of the best decision I made for our wedding. The wedding coordinator, Emily Davenport, was so helpful in planning every little detail (even the ones I changed a million times). I told her what I wanted and she made it happen, from ordering to set up. She made my life a million times less stressful during the planning process, but especially on the big day organizing all the vendors and setting everything up.
